Data Canvas is an innovative creative platform that transforms statistics into powerful artistic expressions. By merging data science with visual art, Data Canvas reimagines numbers as stories that can be seen, felt, and understood. The initiative focuses on presenting Botswana’s social, economic, environmental, and cultural data in ways that are emotionally engaging, visually striking, and intellectually meaningful making data accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Launched by Innowave in 2025, Data Canvas emerged from a strong desire to humanize data and reframe how statistics are experienced. Drawing from extensive work in artificial intelligence, renewable energy, software development, and data visualization, Innowave identified a gap between raw data and public engagement. Data Canvas was created to bridge this gap by showcasing Botswana’s development milestones, challenges, and opportunities through a creative and culturally relevant lens.
